The giant panda is known for its distinctive black and white fur pattern. They are one of the most beloved and recognized animals in the world. Unfortunately, there are less than 2,000 individuals remaining in the wild. Giant pandas are primarily herbivores, with bamboo making up 99% of their diet. They have a specialized digestive system and can eat up to 40 pounds / 20 kg of bamboo each day. They are also excellent climbers and swimmers, despite their large size. The main threat to giant pandas is habitat loss due to deforestation.
