Ron the Red Panda
by: Khuc Cay

Red pandas are very skillful and acrobatic animals that predominantly stay in trees – in fact, they tend to only ground themselves when it is absolutely necessary. They use their long, bushy tails for balance and to cover themselves in winter. They are most active during twilight hours, spending the rest of the day resting on tree branches or in tree hollows, conserving their energy. Climate change, the loss of nesting trees and limited access to their favorite bamboo is causing a decline in red panda populations. There may be as few as 2,500 red pandas remaining in the wild.
