Who doesn’t need a happy Axolotl Buddy to brighten up the winter blues?

This PDF includes the written instructions in US crochet terms and step-by-step photos detailing how to make the pieces and finish the toy. There are charts for the set up rounds of the head and gills, and the tail frill. When made with DK weight yarn (Sample 1 is made in Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK) and 3.0mm hook the finished Axolotl will measure about 24cm/9 ½in long. When made in Chunky textured yarn with 5mm hook the sample measures about 50cm/19in long.

The pattern can be made in a variety of yarn combinations and will look great in solid, speckled or variegated yarns.

Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, magic ring, single crochet, increase, (invisible) decrease, half double crochet, double crochet, front loops only, starting an oval piece with a foundation chain, crochet into a ring, back ridge
Measurement: 24cm, 27cm or 50cm depending on hook and yarn used
