Meet Niki the mermaid!
Niki is inspired by the legend of Thessaloniki (Θεσσαλονίκη), the half sister of Alexander the Great.
According to a very popular Greek legend, when she heard about her beloved brother's death, in her grief she tried to end her life by jumping into the sea. But she didn't die; she became a mermaid instead.
Since then, according to the story, she still lives in the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea, searching for her brother.
