Chowder the Crab - 17 Page PDF

Once there were three crabs.
One morning, after breakfast in their rock pool, they took a walk along the beach till they came across a hill of shells.
The smallest went to get one for himself, and then there was two.
Unwilling to go home, the two crabs explored further and found a castle of sand.
One climbed the steep walls for a better view but lost his footing and fell, landing into a bucket. He decided to stay put and so two crabs became one.
With no shell the last was vulnerable, scurrying away scared he bumped into something soft.
Pinching to save himself it suddenly went dark. It had been a little girl holding an ice cream, but she had dropped it when he had pinched her, and now it was safely on is back.
And that was how the three crabs found shells that day.

This PDF includes the written instructions in US terms and step-by-step photos detailing how to make the pieces to finish your creation. When made with DK weight yarn (sample made in Stylecraft Special DK) and a 2.0mm hook, the finished crab will measure around 15cm/6" tall.

The project can be made using any weighted yarn, just adjust the hook size to match your choice.

• make a Magic Ring or a chain 2 equivalent
• work in a round
• single crochet
• increase/decrease
• half double crochet
• front/back loop only
• slip stitch
• crab stitch (written instructions included)

Yarn: Stylecraft Special Dk - Acrylic - 100g/295m/323 yards
1 ball of each colour (you won't need full balls): White 1001 and Clementine 1853
2.0mm crochet hook
8mm black safety eyes
Soft stuffing/ Fibrefill
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Wire brush
Dressmaker pins
Scissors
