Tater & Toffel the Manatees

$ 8.00

US English pattern by schrahki. Includes step-by-step pictures.

Sometimes known as sea cows or even mermaids, manatees are gentle marine mammals feeding on water plants. Female manatees have a strong connection to their calf, even for a long time after birth. Algae often grows on their backs, making their skin look a little green or brown. I imagine the mother Tater living together with her calf Toffel in a freshwater bay between water lilies and lily pads.

= About this Pattern =

The PDF includes detailed instructions on everything you need to know to crochet the big manatee mother Tater and her calf Toffel. It can be followed step-by-step and is accompanied by photos for all the trickier parts.

Next to the written pattern, the PDF includes a list of all needed materials & tools, a table of all stitch types/abbreviations required for this pattern, and also a tutorial section with detailed explanations for some of the more unusual used stitches and techniques. The exact yarn colors & skein amounts I used are also included in the pattern.

= About the finished Manatees =

With the hook size (4mm) and yarn type (aran weight) I’m using, the final manatee mother Tater is around 36cm (14in) long, 13cm (5in) tall, and around 11cm (4in) wide. The calf Toffel roughly measures 18cm (7in) long, 6cm (2.5in) tall, and 7cm (3in) wide. Everything is always measured at the widest part.
