Romper Help

Hi all,

I was trying to practice the romper with some of my other yarn so that I could get the hang of it before I pick up the yarn I need. I don't think I fully understand the very beginning. I start the 33 chains but it says to do 1 sc to close the chain. I'm assuming it's 1 sc in the first chain made.

If I'm right, great, I got that part down. Well kinda. I feel like I'm twisting the chain or when I complete the first round of the 32 sc, it's not aligned right. I'm pretty much a beginner but I've completed everything up to the romper now I'm just confused.

Lastly, can I just say, I love this book so far. Yes, it is my first amigurumi from this book, but I've been able to pick up crocheting rather quickly and have made a number of these guys before purchasing the book. This has made me feel as though I can do it with just a bit of help. Let's be honest, here, I need a lot of help

Hi!

Thanks for reaching out to us! The first round is indeed working 33 chains and then making a sc in the first chain you made (make sure the circle isn't twisted when you join it). After joining it with a sc, you have a circle you can continue working on to make the rest of the romper. There are video tutorials online you can use for reference.

If this is your first time making clothes for an amigurumi, make sure to try the romper on as you work it. If you notice that the romper is too tight, it's best to switch to a crochet hook that's 1 or 2 sizes bigger (but keep working with the same yarn). That way, your stitches will be looser and the romper will fit the Beaver better. If you notice that the romper turns out way too big, you can switch to a crochet hook that's 1 size smaller, or switch to another yarn weight and corresponding crochet hook.

I'm really happy to hear you like the book, I think it's amazing that you're tackling this project. 🥰 You've come so far and the romper is going to work out too, I'm here with advice if you need it, you've got this! 💪
