Hi Jessica,
The 2 chain stitches you're referring to are only needed when you work a full line of hdc. So in this case, you don't work the 2 chain stitches.
You simply work the hdc in the next stitch. A hdc creates only 1 stitch, it's a higher stitch, not an increase stitch.
You can find a video tutorial here:
https://www.amigurumipatterns.net/stitch_videos.php?stitch=hdc
Thanks !
And thanks for your quick response :-)
But the total number of stitches alwayse escape me. How can I have the 14 stitches with some decreases and no increases ?
Hi Jessica,
You're welcome.
You're referring to these rows:
Row 17: sc in next 4 st, hdc in next st, dc in next 4 st, hdc in next st, sc in next 4 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 18: sc in all 14 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 19: sc in next 4 st, hdc in next st, dc in next 4 st, hdc in next st, sc in next 4 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 20: sc in all 14 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 21: sc in next 2 st, hdc in next st, dc in next 8 st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 22: sc in all 14 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 23: sc in next 2 st, hdc in next st, dc in next 8 st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 24: sc in all 14 st, ch 1, turn [14]
Row 25: sc in next 2 st, hdc in next st, dc in next 8 st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 st, ch 1, turn [14]
There's no decreases in these rounds. "dc" is "double crochet", i think you might have accidentally interpreted this as "dec", which is "decrease".
So for all of these rounds, you make 1 stitch in a stitch of the previous round, the difference is only in the height of the stitch.
I hope this helps!
Indeed !
It's the first english pattern I do with other stitches than sc/dec/inc and I was not attentive enough.
Sorry ! And thanks a lot !
