Is the pattern for the belly patch truly the one used in the photos?

Because I use worsted weight yarn, I found that the following produced a patch similar to the one in the photo.
Ch4. Stitches are worked around both sides of the foundation chain.
Rnd 1: start in second ch from hook, sc in next 2 st, 3 sc in next st. Continue on the other side of the foundation chain, sc, increase in next st [8].
Rnd 2: Increase in next st, sc in next 2 st. Leave the rest of the stitches unworked [4]. Fasten off.
