Hi! The reason why the stitch total is given as 47 here, is because the unworked side of the chains is counted as well. An alternative way of writing the stitch count would be (33 + 14 ch to be worked in the next round) I admit this is a bit confusing, I hope this helps you out (sorry for the late reply!)
