Leaning Spine

HELP!!!  I'm having difficulties with creating the "spine" and body. I've worked it a dozen times being careful to count and mark stitches. No matter what technique I use the "spine" (beige) leans to the right (indicating there's too many stitches on the left). What am I doing wrong?  When switching from beige to warm brown or vise versa should I be using the "invisible color change" or just pulling the different color through the loop of the last stitch of the previous color?  I'm not new to amigurumi however this is the first pattern I've tried from Zoomigurumi. I'm using Zoomigurumi Favorites. Are there any tutorials for this pattern that could help?

Hi Monica,

When I see your picture of the spine, I'm very confused. It looks like you've made the spine separate from the body... I'm not sure where you've gone wrong, but I believe it must be the very first round of the spine.

Is it possible you've been working around the spine and stopped working around the body?

Rnd 28: sc in next 6 st, (change to beige yarn) ch 15, start
in second ch from hook, sc in next 14 ch. This will bring
you back to the point where you branched off with the
chain.
Continue into the round, make a sc into the same
stitch from which you branched off, (change to warm
brown yarn) sc in next 12 st [47]

In the above section I've marked the stitches that are worked on the spine, the other stitches are worked on the body.

I'm thinking you might have made these on the spine somehow?

The picture is unfortunately not loading. I tried it with three diffrent browsers on two devices.

I think I had the same problem with the baby canard. It is also tilting to the front after finishing. At Mr Mallard I changed a lot in the pattern. There it worked and its not tilting that much. Did you find any solution?
