Well, you know what! Batman dropped by my place today and he said to tell you he says hi! I was expecting to him to be a lot bigger and well, you know, muscular but the fella turned out to be just a little over 6.5 inches tall! And slightly rounder around the tum! Well, Christopher Nolan, you lied—Batman doesn’t look like Christian Bale at all!

UPDATE [December 30, 2014]: How to Join Batman’s Legs
Some of you told me the instructions for joining Batman’s legs are a bit fuzzy. [Insert sound of my heart breaking here]. So I’ll try and explain it a bit differently with a sample photograph. 
Hold both legs together. Make sure the shoes face away from you. With the ‘working’ piece on the right and the second leg on the left, find and mark the stitch on the second (left) leg that would be the middle of the left inner thigh. Insert hook in this stitch and make an sc. Now sc in the remaining 14 stitches of the left leg. Next, sc in all 15 stitches on the right leg. This joins your amigurumi’s legs. The combined stitch count of the joined legs should be 30 (15 stitches per leg).
I hope this makes the instructions clear(er). 😀

I’m having trouble downloading the batman pattern. When I click on download, all I get is a page with a print and download button, but they won’t do anything. What am I doing wrong?

I hope you received the pattern I sent by email. The problem you faced was due to the huge number of pattern downloads that maxed out my monthly bandwidth limit. All the patterns are now stored on WordPress itself. So hopefully there shouldn’t be anymore problem. 🙂

Hello Dawn! Yes, I realized the storage provider was forcing mobile phone and tablet users to download its app before they could access the pattern. How messed up is that! I’ve transferred all my patterns to WordPress. You should have no problem downloading the patterns now. 🙂

I don’t know if it’s because it’s late and I’m tired, but I’m having a difficult time understanding the pattern. The first part of the body, where you join the legs together doesn’t make sense to me. When it says to insert hook into the 2 stitches that meet in the center and make an sc, and continue making stitches in rem 29 sts. How exactly am I doing this? I hope my question makes sense. Thanks!

Thanks for this amazing pattern – I’ve made 5 batmans and adapted it for a spiderman and a Robin and now working on a superman for my sons and friend’s children. Never had an issue with the joining of the legs!

the first sc connect 2 legs together. we lost one st. so for this round only has 29 st. do you inc one st for a total of 30sts? and where? at front or back?

thanks for the pattern! It is adorable! I’m just working on the head and on round 16 when you change to skin color I am so confused on what you mean by join to visible stitch from round 14? I have no idea where to attach the skin color. Hope you can explain it a little better for me. Thanks!
In Round 14, you work single crochet stitches as you would normally do. However, in Round 15, you work only on the front loops of Round 14, which leaves the back loops free for you to work on in the next round, i.e. Round 16. So in Round 16, you join the yarn in one of these free back loops and sc around.

any tips for adding the “nose” to batman. i don’t see any instructions for that in the pattern. thanks! he is adorable!
There is no nose. LOL! But when you work an hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc in Round 15, it creates a triangular ‘flap’ on his mask right over the area where his nose is supposed to be. So that takes care of the missing nose problem. 🙂

Hi! I’m about to start the flesh color of the head. Round 15 only says to work in FLO when making the five stitches in the parentheses. Then Round 16 says to work in the visible loops. Are the slip stitches also worked in the front loops only? When working on the WS of the head, does that mean I’m stitching from the inside out?

Just a little question, whenous you start the first round of the arm you say that you will have 12 stitches but when you finish round 8 of the glove you end with 18? How can i have 12 stitches at the end?
You increase 6 stitches on round 8, that’s how you get 18 st. ☺

The 18 stitches you get is when you increase 6 stitches working “only on the front loops” on round 8. When you add the arm to the glove, you begin by working on the 12 “back loops” that has been left unworked on round 8 of the glove. Please read the instructions at the beginning of the arm section.

if you can crochet in rounds then just use color of choice and crochet a few rnds. then hand sew them on. you can also purchase safety animal eyes from Amazon. They sell them in all shapes, sizes and colors

Hi Maureen, BLO is short for crocheting in back loop only and FLO for front loop only. FO stands for fasten off. You can look them up online; there are tons of written and video tutorials that explain how to do these. 🙂

Thank for for the free batman pattern. I’m having trouble with the arms though. The glove ends on 18 st but the arm starts with 12st. Is there supposed to be a decrease somewhere that I missed?
Hi Jenn! The stitch counts are different because we are first working only on the front loops for gloves and then only on the back loops for arms.
If you look closely at instructions for Round 8 of Gloves, you’ll see we are working only on the front loops to make the cuff of the glove. The increases made on the front loops of this round brings the stitch count to 18 from 12.
However, the back loops of this round are not worked on; hence the stitch count remains unchanged at 12. When we start working on the Arm (Round 1), we join the yarn (and work on) on these very back loops of the glove (Round 8) that were left untouched earlier.
I hope this makes it clear. 🙂

I am just starting this pattern and just need a clarification. On the boots, round 2 states sc 4, inc in the next 3 st. Does that mean to increase, if so how many stitches per stitch?
“sc 4, inc in the next 3 st” means sc in the next 4 sts, increase in each of the next 3 sts. Increase means you have to make 2 sts in the same stitch.
