Made with sock weight yarn and 2.5 mm hook, Rudy is around 4.5 inches tall. As the pattern only uses basic stitches (if you know how to make a magic ring, single crochet stitch, increase and decrease, you’re set to go!) and is relatively quick to make, this amigurumi will make a great Christmas project.

I do like this but can’t do small hooks anymore (arthritis). Would this translate to a larger hook and thicker yarn for a bigger reindeer?

Too cute, thank you for such an adorable pattern ♥ Do you know how much of the main brown color does this take? Even a rough guesstimate is fine, I don’t have any in my stash, so it’d be great to know how much I should buy 🙂
You’re welcome. I’m very happy you like him. I didn’t keep track of how much brown yarn I used since I was using my scraps but if I have to guess, you will not need more than 30gm.

Thank you for asking. 🙂 But I’m sorry to tell you that I’m not taking up on offers of translations of my patterns at the moment. Not that I’m against people sharing my patterns as long as they share just the link, but I’ve noticed that many of my patterns (both free and premium) are being illegally stored on other retrieval system and being shared or sold for profit without my permission. When I release my patterns, I put in a few security measures that allow me to track my pdf files in case such misuse is taking place. However, when it is being shared from other sources, I have no way of protecting my copyright as the designer. As such, I must sadly decline your offer until the time I figure out a way that allows all of us to share freely without the fear of infringement of our copyright. I hope you understand. 🙂
This is adorable! If one were to use worsted weight yarn would that work? It would obviously be a lot larger. What size eyes would you recommend for that?
Yes, worsted weight yarn will definitely mean a bigger Rudy. More of him to love , I guess. 😉 As for your question regarding the eye size, it’s confession time: where I live, we don’t get worsted weight yarn. Of course the yarn that I use is categorized as DK but in reality it is closer to sock weight yarn. So I’m afraid I can’t recommend an exact size. But I can give you a reference point. With the yarn I used, the 10mm eye completely covers three rows/rounds. So I guess you can measure the height of three rounds made with your yarn and then estimate the eye size. I hope this helps. 🙂

I want to make Rudy for my grandson, but don’t know what kind of yarn was used and where to find it???
I use sock weight acrylic yarn by Vardhman to make my amigurumi. I maybe wrong but I don’t think this yarn company ships its products outside South Asia. As far as I know, they don’t have an online store either.

Hi, I do not understand what single stitch sc1 increase by 8 equal s 24 means. Any help would be appreciated… Thank you. Snowyday
I believe you are confused by this instruction: (sc, inc) X 8. (24)
(sc, inc) means single crochet in the next stitch, increase in the next stitch. “X 8” means repeat instructions within the brackets 8 times. So when you do 8 sets of (sc, inc), your final stitch count will be 24.

So glad the internet stuff stays forever cuz I found your cute pattern. Making 3 of different colors for toddler grandchildren obsessed with reindeer. But those antlers are a booger! For we arthritis sufferers & those having failing eyesight, I ended up putting a straw in the center of the tube. Made it so much easier to get around the 5 sc.
Agreed. I am having a terrible time with the antlers. I tried using a straw (before I even saw this comment) and I am still having trouble. Any tips, Tales?
