Slip knot
Tying a slip knot onto the crochet hook is one of the first things you need to know to get started with crocheting. It’s like casting the yarn onto the hook so you can start crocheting. Wrap the yarn into a loop, so that the shorter strand lies behind the longer one. Insert the crochet hook through the loop, catch the longer yarn and bring it through the loop. Pull on both ends of the yarn to tighten the knot around the hook.
