Re: I’m having trouble understanding the directions for round 30. Does the chain 13 go side to side or from the back towards the front (beak)?
Hi, thanks for your message and I'm sorry for the late reply! The ch 13 becomes the back of the hen, it's an extention of the normal round and you keep on working around the work as a whole, I hope this helps you out! Enjoy crocheting!

I am having trouble finding out where the chain 13 is attached . I chained 13 at the center back, if I connect the chain directly across to the front it divides the work in the middle of the front of the head. I think it should be connected from side to side to form the neck and back. The 1st picture shows the chain connected. Please help!

Hi, you don't need to connect the chain to anything. The chain forms the spine of the back, so for now, it's just loosely attached to the rest of the body where you started making it. In Rnd 30, after making the chain, you work down the same chain (in one side of the chain stitches), around the body piece and back up the same chain again (in the remaining side of the chain stitches), so at the end of Rnd 30, you'll end up with a 'spoon shape', so to say. I hope this helps you out!
