Lil’ Curvy is one of the six crocheted dolls in the Lil’ Ladies collection. This PDF pattern includes clear, detailed instructions to make the doll, her hairstyle, her bathrobe, and her towel. If you already own the pattern for another doll from the same collection, you can swap their hairstyles.

Lil’ Curvy is the Lil’ Lady who has nothing to hide. She embodies the peace that comes from making peace with your body, once you stop believing it has to change in order to deserve space. She doesn’t hide anymore. Not now. She dresses to be seen, not to disappear. And she would like to say to all the women still hiding under layers of shapeless clothes, as if apologizing for taking up space:
“You are already beautiful just as you are. It’s your gaze that needs to change, not your body.”

The Lil’ Ladies collection was created to celebrate women’s bodies, all women’s bodies. With just a few stitches, I wanted to represent as many body shapes as possible. The one who feels “too” round, “too” tall, “too” small. The one who thinks her belly is “too” big, her shoulders “too” broad, her chest “too” large, her hips “too” wide. Because “too much” is too much, and it’s time for that to change.

I am the mother of a little girl and a little boy, and I don't want to let them grow up believing that a woman must fit a single mold to be beautiful.

░ MATERIALS ░

► Fingering-weight cotton yarn – I used Scheepjes Catona. The pattern includes suggested Scheepjes Catona colors depending on the desired skin tone.
► A hook suitable for the chosen yarn (I use a 2.25 mm / B hook with Scheepjes Catona)
► A tapestry (or yarn) needle
► Pins
► A stitch marker
► Stuffing (polyester fiberfill)
► Embroidery thread and needle – I used DMC black pearl cotton 310, size 5

Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, magic ring, single crochet, increase, (invisible) decrease, double crochet, back loops only, front loops only, spike stitch, crochet into a ring, fastening off in the invisible way, Crochet into a ring
Measurement: Approximately 12 cm (4.7 inches) tall, depending on the yarn used.
